VSIG Scholarships

Do you have an interest in Vascular Surgery, or would you like to know more about this specialty? The 40th Annual Western Vascular Society meeting is scheduled for September 14-17, 2025 at the Ojai Valley Inn, Ojai, CA. This is an exceptional opportunity to explore the specialty and network with experts in the field.

These $2000.00 scholarships are awarded annually to several medical students, and residents in general surgery programs. Scholarship funds are intended to be used towards lodging and/or travel expenses for attending the 2025 WVS annual meeting, and are payable by e-check after on-site check-in at the annual meeting registration desk. Applications will be reviewed after the February 2nd deadline, and awardees will be notified by March 14th.

Deadline for applications is February 2, 2025.

Mission

The Mission of the Vascular Surgery Interest Group Committee is to help promote the specialty of vascular surgery among medical students across the United States and to stimulate interest in training within the existing programs encompassed by the Western Vascular Society.

The Chair of the committee shall be appointed by the President of the Society for a three-year term.

Scope of Work

  • Oversee medical student applications and grants for attending the annual WVS meeting
  • Find creative ways to virtually engage medical students and encourage collaboration among vascular surgery training programs for this purpose
  • Create social events and formalized educational programs at the annual WVS meeting specifically for the reason of engaging medical students and connecting them with Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency program directors and their respective faculty
  • Engage medical students attending the annual WVS meeting in research projects
