Vincent Rowe, MD

Dr. Rowe is a Professor of Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Wiley F. Barker Chief of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the UCLA Health Gonda Venous Center. Dr. Rowe is an acclaimed clinician, researcher, and educator. Prior to joining the UCLA faculty in 2022, he was Professor of Clinical Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC). He served as Director of Pediatric Vascular Surgical Services at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and Co-director of the USC Center for Limb Preservation at Keck Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Rowe was Program Director of the Vascular Surgery Integrated and Independent Residencies and previously served as Chief of Vascular Surgery Services at LAC+USC Medical Center (now Los Angeles General Medical Center).
After receiving his medical degree from USC, Dr. Rowe completed a residency in general surgery at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center followed by a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Rowe has received numerous teaching awards and has contributed to the surgical literature with over 160 peer reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and textbook chapters. He is currently Associate Editor for Rutherford’s Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. His major research interests include lower extremity peripheral arterial disease (PAD), vascular access for hemodialysis, and traumatic vascular injuries.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Rowe is active in numerous surgical societies, frequently serving in leadership roles. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) and has served on multiple SVS committees, including chairing the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee from 2020 to 2023. A member of the American Board of Surgery’s Vascular Surgery Board, he currently chairs the Vascular Surgery In-Training Examination (VSITE) Committee. Dr. Rowe is the 36th President of the Western Vascular Society.
